Frequently Asked Questions
GETTING STARTED
-
The 15 minute consultation is a simple, low pressure conversation. We will talk about what led you to reach out, what you would like help with, and what you are hoping for in therapy. You can ask questions about my approach, scheduling, or anything else you need to know. If it feels like a good match, we can schedule your first appointment. If not, I will happily point you toward resources that may be a better fit.
-
Yes. I offer a whole person approach that can include faith and spirituality if that is important to you. My personal faith is Christian, but I fully respect the beliefs and backgrounds of every client. You decide how much or how little faith is part of your therapy, and I will follow your lead. My goal is to honor all of who you are as we work together.
-
Yes, I offer online therapy for adults across Texas and Florida. As a licensed therapist in both states, I provide secure HIPAA compliant video counseling for anxiety, grief, trauma, and shame based struggles. You can attend sessions from anywhere you feel safe and comfortable, as long as you are physically located in Texas or Florida during the appointment.
-
I specialize in helping adults in Texas and Florida who are dealing with anxiety, grief, trauma, emotional wounds, chronic stress, and shame. I also support clients who struggle with boundary setting, relationship patterns, overthinking, and the lasting effects of childhood experiences. My approach is not cookie cutter. I use EMDR, Brainspotting, ACT, and other supportive tools, and we work together to choose what fits your needs, your goals, and your style. Therapy is always tailored to you.
-
During your first online counseling session, we will explore what brings you to therapy, what you hope to change, and the emotional patterns you have been navigating. I will ask thoughtful questions to help me understand your history and current challenges. We will also outline your goals and what the therapy process will look like.

I schedule appointments with you directly during our sessions. If you need to request a change, you can message me through the secure client portal.

I offer daytime and early evening appointments. Weekend appointments are not available.

Yes. I am in network with several insurance plans for clients in Texas, including Aetna, Cigna, Oscar Health, Oxford, United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Baylor Scott and White, and Tricare. Insurance coverage varies from plan to plan, so I encourage you to check your benefits before we begin.
-
If I am out of network with your insurance, I can give you a superbill to submit for possible reimbursement. Insurance companies handle out of network benefits differently, so you will want to check with your plan to understand what they offer.
-
I accept credit cards, debit cards, and HSA cards. Payment is due at the time of service.
-
If you are a client in Florida, therapy is provided through a private pay structure. I do not accept insurance for Florida sessions at this time.
TYPES OF THERAPY YOU OFFER
-
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a therapy that helps your brain heal from painful memories and negative beliefs that still affect you today. During EMDR, we use gentle eye movements or tapping while you focus on a memory or emotion. This helps your brain sort through the experience in a healthier way so it does not feel as intense or overwhelming. Many people notice they feel calmer, more grounded, and less triggered as their brain finishes the work it could not do at the time of the event.
-
Brainspotting helps your brain and body process emotions that feel stuck or too heavy to carry on your own. We look for a “brainspot,” which is a point in your visual field that connects to the emotion or memory you want to work on. As you focus on that spot, your brain begins to release stored tension, negative beliefs, and old emotional patterns. Brainspotting often feels slower and quieter than other approaches, and many clients describe it as a gentle, mindful way to heal deep emotional wounds.
-
ACT stands for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. It teaches you how to notice your thoughts and feelings with more awareness and less judgment. Instead of getting pulled into negative beliefs or old stories, ACT uses mindfulness skills to help you stay present. You also learn to make choices based on your personal values and the kind of life you want to build, not on fear, stress, or shame. ACT is practical, grounding, and helpful for people who feel stuck in their thoughts or overwhelmed by emotions.
FAITH AND THERAPY
-
Research shows that when people bring spirituality or a connection to a higher power into therapy, they often experience deeper support, greater hope, and better emotional healing. Because I take a whole person approach, I believe your spiritual life can be an important part of your overall well being if that is something you value. Faith is never required or pushed, but when it matters to you, it can help strengthen the healing process.
-
If you want faith to be part of your therapy, we include it gently and in a way that feels natural to you. This may look like prayer, scripture, spiritual reflection, or simply talking about how your beliefs shape what you are walking through. You decide the level of integration, and I follow your lead.
-
No. I welcome clients from many different faith backgrounds as well as clients who do not identify with a faith tradition. While my personal faith is Christian, I respect every client’s beliefs and worldview. Therapy is always guided by your needs and values, not mine.
-
That is completely fine. Many clients prefer a strictly clinical approach, and I honor that fully. If you do not want faith included in your therapy, we will focus on tools, skills, emotional regulation, and the healing work that supports your goals. You always choose the direction of your sessions.
CONFIDENTIALITY AND SAFETY
-
Yes. Online therapy is safe and confidential. I use a secure, HIPAA compliant video platform to protect your privacy, and everything we talk about is kept confidential within the limits of the law. You can meet from a place where you feel safe and comfortable.
-
Your records are secured in a HIPAA compliant electronic system and protected by strict privacy laws and professional ethical standards. Any access beyond our sessions is limited to what the law or your insurance requires.
-
If you are in crisis or experiencing an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room right away. You can also contact the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988. Because online therapy cannot provide immediate crisis intervention, it is important to reach out to emergency services if you need urgent help.
