For a long time, the people who find me have been doing everything they were told would help.

They prayed harder.
They tried to be grateful.
They stayed busy.
They pushed through.

But underneath it all, they still felt anxious, exhausted, and disconnected. Their body stayed on high alert, their relationships felt hard, and shame kept whispering that something was wrong with them.

Most of them don’t realize this isn’t a failure of faith or effort.

It’s the impact of unresolved childhood wounds living in the nervous system.

When someone finally sits across from me, what they’re really saying is
“I survived… but I don’t know how to live.”

And that’s where the story shifts...

Where Healing Begins

Healing doesn’t begin with fixing what’s broken.
It begins with understanding what happened, why your reactions make sense, and learning how safety can be restored gently, over time.

Through therapy that honors both psychology and faith, we begin untangling shame, calming the nervous system, and rebuilding trust with self, others, and God.

Not all at once.
Not by pushing harder.
But by taking intentional, compassionate steps forward.

The result isn’t a perfect life.

It’s a grounded one.

One where anxiety no longer runs the show.
Where shame loses its grip.
Where peace feels possible.
Where surviving slowly turns into thriving.

Beyond the Therapy Room

Healing doesn’t stop when the session ends. I’m also an author, speaker, and podcast co-host. Helping me to continue the conversation about emotional wellness and personal growth in real, relatable ways.

Much of my work focuses on helping people recognize and break free from the shame cycle, an exhausting loop of self-criticism, perfectionism, and withdrawal that keeps us feeling stuck and unworthy. In my book, A Better Way: Integrating Faith and Psychology to Heal Inner Wounds, and on the A Better Way to Heal podcast, I share stories, tools, and faith-infused insights that show how understanding this cycle can open the door to compassion, healing, and lasting change.

Together with my co-host, Isamary Nieves Banks, founder of New Life Village, I love creating safe spaces, on air, in workshops, and at conferences. It is a space where people can see that freedom is possible and healing is a journey we don’t walk alone.
